From a very early age, I have always enjoyed nature and viewing the beauty
all around me that God has created. From the very first time that my dad
took me fishing, I was amazed at all the images that were around me. It is
those images that I try to capture in their natural state, as when the light first
hits the water and creates dazzling reflections, to the sun rising in the sky
painting beautiful colors that dance in the clouds. When I paint, I enjoy getting
lost in that moment, it is very relaxing and peaceful to me. It is that moment
that I attempt to capture in my paintings and interpret for my viewer to bring
them into that same place. It is my hope that the viewer will get the same
feeling and have a peace inside and a smile on their face as they view my
work. Just a little more about myself and who I am as an artist - I am mainly
self taught, but after painting murals on my parents' walls as a child, my mom
suggested that I should take art lessons. It was in those first lessons and later
through art classes in school, that I realized how much I enjoyed art and
painting. Later in school, I was fortunate enough to win an art scholarship to
the Kansas City Art Institute, but I decided not to major in art. After
transferring and graduating from college, I did not pursue art as a profession,
but art and painting have always been a great passion and love for me.
It is my desire and passion to continue to create art, to paint and to keep learning new techniques. I hope to always be able to find time
to pick up a brush and paint what God inspires me to paint at that moment in time. Over the years there have been many moments in time
that have inspired me to paint and having been an athlete in high school and college, I have enjoyed capturing sporting events on
canvas. I also have a love for music and Jazz that inspires me to capture those moments on canvas. I also like to paint people and do
character studies of people and every day life events. Also, having grown up in Alabama, you may notice my southern heritage show up
in my artwork from time to time. Sometimes for fun, I just like to let my imagination go back to when I was a child and create my own
whimsical characters and images. Recently, I have been inspired to begin painting more landscapes, seascapes and nautical scenes. In
the future, I hope to continue painting and to one day devote myself full time to creating art. I hope you, as a viewer, enjoy my art. I feel
my ability to create art and to paint is a gift from God, and if you have supported my art by purchasing a print or an original painting, I
cannot thank you enough. I hope that you will always look upon it and smile. I feel very blessed to have been given a talent to express
myself, and it is my prayer that God allows me to continue to paint art with the eyes and the heart of that small boy who was full of
innocence and in awe of God's creation. I feel that God wants us all to enjoy the beauty around us and I hope that we all continue to
experience His masterworks each day. Also, I am very blessed to now share my art and my life with the woman of my dreams, my wife
Twylla. Also, I have been very blessed to have shared much of my art with my mom before she passed away. Today, my dad and I still go
fishing and I still get those same feelings just like I did the very first time. Again, I hope you enjoy my artwork and don't forget to check
back soon to see my new paintings that are always in progress.
